Hi, I'm Christy. And this is Faerie Far Away.
I've been a wanderer my whole life — not always in the far-away, passport-stamping kind of way, but in the quiet, curious, what's around the next bend kind of way.
The kind that happens on a train rolling through New England, watching the landscape change out the window on the way to Maine with my gram. The kind that happens when you fly into Boston and take the train the rest of the way — not because it's the fastest route, but because the journey itself is part of the story.
And the kind that happens on those slow, winding roads between the interstate and the gullies of the Blue Ridge Mountains in West Virginia — the ones that can't be rushed, where every curve reveals something worth slowing down for, and where the mountains hold the kind of family that makes the drive worth every mile.
And the kind that happens when you spread a blanket on the grass, open a takeout bag from your favorite local spot, and just breathe.
That's what this blog is about.
Why Faerie Far Away?
Because faeries don't wait for the perfect moment to explore. They flutter. They wander. They find wonder in the overlooked and the ordinary. They make a home out of wherever they land.
That felt right to me.
I'm a homeschooling mama to one curious, wonder-filled little explorer who has taught me more about seeing the world slowly than any trip I've ever taken. She is my favorite adventure and my built-in reminder that the best moments aren't always the ones you plan — they're the ones you notice.
By day I coordinate travel for families and groups who want more than just a vacation. They want everyone together, present, making memories that last. If that sounds like something you've been dreaming about — I'd love to help make it happen.

Our first adventure is coming soon.
In just a few weeks we'll be at Kites Over Mobile at USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park — blanket on the ground, local food in hand, kites in the sky and my little explorer leading the way. I'll be bringing you along for every moment of it.
